Spring is here and it’s certainly washed 31 The Rocks with its gentle beauty.
Month after month we have watched with bated breath as the rain clouds approached. Fingers crossed and hoping that some of that rain that we so desperately need, would fall on the Granite Belt. Then despair as the clouds parted to head towards the Gold Coast or up towards the Sunshine Coast. But, last week…. joy, joy, joy….a few days of good soaking Spring rain, just under 100mm here in Stanthorpe and what a difference it has made.
We sat outside to watch the rain and without a word of a lie, we could see the lawn turning green before our eyes. Overnight the plants burst into bloom and the gardens were clean and vibrant. That night, the sound of frogs for the first time in ages. Now the days are full of bird song. It might have been delayed, but Spring has certainly sprung.
Everyone thinks of Stanthorpe and the Granite Belt when winter comes around. Well, we’re here to remind you that Stanthorpe is one of the few paces in Queensland where we actually experience all four seasons. Whilst Brisbane and the Gold and Sunshine Coasts are heating up and the humidity is rising, Stanthorpe still has those cooler nights and low humidity days. It’s the perfect place to kick back and escape the sticky air. Do as little or as much as you want and enjoy a refreshing break.
We’ve launched our Happy Hiker Package to help you spend some leisure time in our wonderful Girraween National Park. We have our Midweek Relax and Escape Package for those who want to escape the rat race for a few days.
Our Rock n Roll Holiday Deal if it’s a bike ride in the country that helps you unwind. Bikes from Granite Belt Bicycle Tours and Hire. All of these deals are bookable from our website 31 The Rocks Packages and Specials.
Once again, the Granite Belt will be at the Brisbane Good Food & Wine Show. It’s on at the Brisbane Convention & Entertainment Centre, 26th to 28th October, so if you’re looking for something to do that weekend, drop in and experience some of the Granite Belts finest wines. And whilst we are on the subject of wine, a day exploring our Strangebird Wine Trail is the perfect way to experience the finest, award winning varieties in Australia.
All the information you need is available at Granite Belt Wine Country .
We have some big events coming up. As we’ve mentioned in the last blog, the Johnny Cash Festival is nearly here – 2nd and 3rd November. We are more than half full for that, and accommodation is starting to book up fast, so if you are considering coming, don’t wait too much longer to book.
There is also have a rock concert coming to town. Sounds from the Vines will be hitting our showgrounds in March 2019. We already have bookings for that and places are filling fast.
We are nearly full for Easter and only have 1 Villa left for Snowflakes next July. Stanthorpe knows how to put on an event and they sell out way in advance so don’t delay.
